100+ Beautiful Examples of Black and White Photography
All photography was originally monochrome, most of these photographs were black-and-white. Most forms of visual technology start out in black and white, then slowly evolve into color as technology progresses. Even after color film was readily available, black-and-white photography continued to dominate for decades, due to its lower cost and its “classic” photographic look.
There are many ways to attack photography and some are much more expensive than others. Here in this showcase, we presenting a Stunning collection of Black and White Photography and Pictures taken by various artists in which all pictures are linked to the author’s pages. For those who don’t know what is “Black and White” in terms of Photography then, In early time photography was black-and-white or shades of sepia. Color photography was originally rare and expensive, and again often less than true to life. Color photography became more common in the middle of the 20th century, and has become even more common since. Black-and-white remains a niche market for photographers who use the medium for artistic purposes. This can take the form of black and white film or digital conversion to grayscale, with optional image manipulation to enhance the results. For amateur use, certain companies such as Kodak manufacture black-and-white disposable cameras. Also, certain films are produced today which give black and white images using the ubiquitous C41 color process.

Great collection, a bit too long to browse through for the person who skims, seeing as it’s 100 photos. I still can’t help thinking that some of these (i.e. the one with the snails) would do just as well, if not better, in color. It’s only where there is severe contrast between bright and dark (i.e. the tulips and flowers) that black-and-white photography makes sense.
custom B&W prints are still simply stunning. Some great shots here; some others here: http://www.etsy.com/shop/MarkoPhotos
Awesome pics. I love the collection especially those snails are looking really nice:)
Great collection! The one with the baby splashing in the pool made me laugh!
Great selection – if only I could take photos like these!

Great photos, I love B&W photos – check out any photos by Ansell Adams one of the best B&W photographers..
Yep, “Black & White” was King…. photographers and movie makers used “shadows & lighting” to get the picture they envisioned… total creativity on their part !! Now, it’s “color and computers” for just about everything and a virtual unending supply of “creativity”… on the part of the people and their computers with the help of “c.g. specialists” to gain the “look & feel” they want !! Welcome the 21st century “thinkers” !!
These “black & white” photographs are still fantastic… even by today’s standards !! Thank you for sharing !!
Wow , Great collection! , the second photo is very nice !
Extremadamente artistico…………….
Nice Collection.Thanx

Wonderful!
They are nice enough shots, but the main thing about them is that they are all very contrasty with a lot of black and lost details in the shadows. It’s a particular style. I’d like to see more variety in approach.
Impressive collection of B/W photography. Nice one.
Very nice pics, but where are the credits ?!

the images are just stunning..loved every capture.. the subject that we choose in b&w is vry important..the contrast & lights are the essentials for a good black & white photography..the subjects that i select for black & white is high in contrast jus like the 1st image..i make sure abt the lights in my black & white pictures as more or less light both will ruin a classy image..i like black & white images as these images speak up the emotions that a photographers wants to convey..thank you for sharing it..
Always loved B&W photos – there’s just a little something that you get with a B&W that you can’t capture with a colour photo. Great pictures, real “art” – not like a lot of this “contemporary” stuff!
Brilliant work. Black and White pictures are always so so fun, classic, creative and original.
