‘Less is More’, an aphorism coined by the German – American architect for Coining suits the term ‘Minimalism’ in an apt way. In today’s world where everything is growing in a fast paced manner, we have to compromise somewhere to catch up with the speed, like a skyscraper cannot be constructed with all the architecture and the fine details as in case of a palace, but a skyscraper does justice to its part and everybody accepts this.
In the world of darkness, a simple candle can light the whole place rather than a chandelier or heavy lightings. Similarly a minimalistic design is created to justify its purpose rather than incorporating all the materials and create a chaos.
In part one of this article we discussed the physical part of interviewing. Running all over a company building, meeting a dozen people, keeping your appearance clean and presentable and other considerations that depend on your stamina and ability to keep prim and proper but the really difficult part of interviewing is the intellectual part – using your mind to win over your interviewers.
Most articles on interviewing tips cover these points and it will do you well to read as many of these articles as you can. Question and answer time during interviews are a game. They are debates, saying the right thing, even when you don’t truly believe what you must say to please the interviewer and playing the game by other’s rules.
In an earlier article I wrote about the importance of blog planning to help make sure you are producing quality blog articles on a consistent basis. There are so many articles about interviewing tips but if you’ve read one, you can save time by not reading the others. Rest assured they all say the same exact thing. They range from the simple, common sense tips like not talking on your cell phone while being interviewed, to not lying about your experience. Unfortunately, there are many who do just that... and they’re usually hired for management positions but what if you are interviewing for a position where honesty, hard work, people skills and experience that will bring value to the company is the key?
The fact is that these days, it is harder then ever to even land an interview. When your résumé gets past the online application robots or the hiring managers who see hundreds of résumés for each open position and you do get the honor of a personal interview, chances are you’ll be so nervous that you won’t sleep the night before and won’t be your sharpest during the grilling you’ll receive from multiple company employees. An interview is your one chance. If you make it that far, you need to be at the top of your game and kick ass if you want that job.
A call to action isn’t just limited to e-commerce websites; every website should have an objective. The objective of a website could be placing an order, reading related articles, subscribing to the newsletter or filling in a contact form. Make sure that the visitor knows what is expected of him and enable him to do so.
There are several techniques to implement the call to action in a email. The basic tip is not to create a dead-end where a user doesn’t know where to go next. If he doesn’t know where to go next, he’ll leave your website and increase the bounce rate. Help him browse to other pages by using a clear call to action.
