“Global News”, as the name implies, is a Newspaper Style WordPress Theme that has all the features of a typical newspaper site. This theme was designed by InstantShift and developed by RapidXHTML as an exclusive gift for our readers.
The idea was to design an universal WordPress News Theme that’s focused on content and images, with an invisible, yet typical newspaper design. News themes are often very hard to customize and difficult to handle for a single person but this time we want to design this theme with various admin options and widgets to make your life simple.

Inspiration Behind The Design
The basic idea behind this theme first comes in mind when we looked around and saw that there are only very few good news themes available over web for WordPress platform and most of them are premium or paid once. So, we wanted to create something useful and make it available to share with design community for FREE. That is one of few strong reasons which inspired us to design this theme. Therefore, we sit together and draw the rough idea on paper. When the things had finished up with designing part the next question which comes in our mind is the conversion of design. The aim was to design an universal WordPress news theme that’s focused on content and images, with an invisible, yet typical newspaper design.
News themes are often very hard to customize and difficult to handle for a single person but this time we want to design this theme with various admin options and widgets to make your life simple. There really are very few limits to what WordPress can handle, so we’ve decided to built in a lot of custom features and some admin options to give people a little flexibility in handling, and give them a feel that how some small functionality tweaks can make a huge difference to the overall experience of browsing a news theme/blog. This time we’ve decided to not to code this theme by our own so we’ve stumbled upon many designers around and finally contacted RapidxHTML for the conversion part and i must say we’re surprised with their designing skills and we had fulfilled with all our expectations and even more.
After running few successful tests and plugin optimization we’ve finally end up with current theme. Hope you all going to like it.

The PSD source file of the logo image has also been included with the package. This theme design can be used for any project and will be useful especially for news-related projects.

Hi, thanks for theme and nice screen but Demo is not working
Thanks for the them. It’s looks great. Unfortunately I get a 404 error when I click the download link. Also the Demo link isn’t working.

Guys, We had found some serious bugs in the theme which was caused by one of iShift’s servers which was under the malicious attack. Therefore we had to remove all the related files from main server.
We will make it available to you within a week with fresh post. Till then you can suggest us any new theme feature or any related comment about existing feature you like to improve.

very nice themes
it’s not working! what’s the problem? i instaled the theme and it’s nothing happend. I can’t see the post or pages. What’s the problem? My wordpress version or something else?
Looks like a great theme and exactly what I was looking for. I wish there was a forum here so users of this theme could compare notes because when I installed the theme and checked it with IE8 it looked perfect, but when I viewed it in Firefox the advertisements had moved from the right column over to the left side overlaying the article area. Anyway, I completely understand Instantshift’s position on support for freebies but alas, a user forum would have been nice.
Thanks for the theme. I’ll try to figure out why it is different in Firefox.

You might want to update your themes docs as i spent a good 30 mins trying to figure out the blasted weather zip code thing.
You dont mention that you have to go to the RSS url after browsing to the city. and then get the code there

please disregard my last comment. the tag slag was automatically saved to feature-2. I changed this to feature and now it is working great.

The theme and WP Photo Album are not dancing together. The WPPA developer blames the jquery coding in the header.

I’m getting errors related to YARPP with latest WordPress. Most pages load fine but occasionally getting stack overflow, e.g. on search page. Hope I don’t have to change themes as I like this one.
