Wow, great post, thanks. I have seen most of these already but I agree that the ones that have been picked are some of the very best out there. Anyway, I’m having some trouble downloading some of the templates. Those coming from media2.smashingmagazine.com lead to a 403 Forbidden page. :-/

I can agree that no one will loose if decided to build website around free template based on typography. However when taken into consideration template based on graphics one needs to e very careful as he enters the water of very subjective nature.
