  13. @Adam Costa – Hacks and plugins are two different thing. This post is only about wordpress comments page hacks.

Thanks Danial for your efforts in putting all those set of tips together.

  31. Great Post!!

  32. Eyespi20,

These are not really hacks but it would not be wrong if I call them customizations which we all do time to time on our blog themes to offer more flexibility and features for visitors. Some of these hacks are inbuilt features in wordpress 2.7 but since these features doesn’t not work very efficiently, I would recommend you to use these tricks until we have more stable features in wordpress. :)

  33. While I’m not 100% comfortable with “hacking”, this list at least gives me some options.

I upgraded to 2.7, but some of the inbuilt functionality doesn’t work with my blog template. Having suggestions on ways to tweak it to include some of those things that I desire is nice as I like my theme and really don’t want to change.

  34. I’d like to add a comment section to a static page on my blog which contains a popular article. If there’s a built-in way to do this in WordPress, please let me know. Otherwise, is there a way to achieve this? I’d really like to implement this. Thanks — and this is a great post.

  152. Awesome post, I learned a lot :) I even had to go back and remember what I was looking for when I landed here, I’m wondering how you show the number of comments that each user has made on your blog? I’ve seen it before, maybe even on some of my own sites, but not sure how to add it to a theme that doesn’t have it.

For example in the comments it would say
    david (10 comments) etc

    thanks!

  153. Interesting, but it really didn’t help me. I’m looking for an actual article or tutorial on HOW to change my comments area. I like yours, by the way. Would you be willing to tell me how you styled yours?

my big issue is: on most WP blogs i visit they have on the top right or left corner a bubble with let say 20 comments then people click on it and they are in the post but my theme does not have this and that causes the visitors to not click the Post title and enter the post, anyone kniows wich PLUGGIN I need to fix this ??

  205. Thanks for this list, great job compiling, and nice clean look to how it displays.

One thing I’d like to see regarding comments is: when there are tons of comments on a blog page… a way to organize them for better readability, without offending the commentors. Just making it paged doesn’t necessarily fix the problem though… maybe something like

_ vote a comment to the top of the list.
As comments get voted on by visitors, they move to the top of the list by popularity.

  206. This really good info here interesting, thank you very much.

In order to leave a comment the reader has to click on this bubble on the upper right hand side of each post, and that is where readers have to go to view the comments as well. Is there any way to change it so that the comments appear below each post without changing my theme? I am by no means extremely knowledgeable when it comes to coding and what not…
